Sampras, regarded as the consummate champion, played his best tennis when the stakes where the highest. He first achieved the world No. 1 ranking in 1993 and retained the year-end No.1 ranking for six consecutive years (1993-98). Sampras became the first man to win 14 Grand Slam Singles Championships, winning 14 of his 18 Grand Slam Finals appearances.

-14 Grand Slam titles during his 15 year ATP career. Winning 7 Wimbledon titles, 5 U.S. Open titles and 2 Australian Open titles.

-Pete turned professional at age 17 and won the title at the U.S. Open at age 19, making him the youngest male to ever win the event.
