When Mariano Rivera is inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York next month, fans in attendance won’t get to watch him fire off a few of his famous cut fastballs to fellow inductee Edgar Martinez.

But one day after Russian legend Yevgeny Kafelnikov enters the International Tennis Hall of Fame, he will be taking to the historic grass courts at the Newport Casino in the Invesco Legends Newport, a one-day tournament that will include fellow Hall-of-Famers Mats Wilander and Jim Courier, along with Todd Martin, International Tennis Hall of Fame CEO and former No. 4 player in the world.

Kafelnikov, who will be joined in the Hall of Fame by fellow inductees Mary Pierce and Li Na, is a former world No. 1, a two-time Grand Slam champion and an Olympic gold medalist.

“It will be a lot of fun to get back on court and play a match or two with Jim, Mats and Todd,” Kafelnikov said in a press release. “All these years later, I do still love to compete and play in a stadium. It will be a great cap to a special weekend to play with these guys again.”

Wilander was enshrined into the Hall of Fame in 2002 after a career that saw him reach No. 1 and win three Australian Opens, three French Opens and one U.S. Open. Courier, also a former No. 1, captured two Australian Opens and two French Opens and was inducted in 2005. Martin reached the finals of the U.S. Open and the Australian Open. He was also a member of the winning 1995 U.S. Davis Cup team.

The event on July 21 will be the culmination of a week that includes the ATP Hall of Fame Open, where current touring professionals will compete from July 14-21, and numerous fan-friendly activities, including a family day on July 14 with tennis clinics, free tennis lessons to people of all ages on a first-come, first-served basis on July 15-16, a fashion show on July 18, a wheelchair tennis clinic on July 19 and an exhibition doubles match pitting 2019 French Open semifinalist Amanda Anisimova and 2019 Australian Open semifinalist Danielle Collins vs. Hall of Famer Gigi Fernandez and Rhode Island native Jill Craybas on July 19.
